The ISAT WEB SITE Policies and Procedures

Phases of the Launch  PHASE I Understand University standards, Decide overall logic, transfer information from old site, updating as appropriate. Launch site and make edits.  PHASE II : Articulate principles governing future of web-site, protocols for editing; and integration of new material from multiple sources.  PHASE III Streamline continuous editing improvement

Phase I Tasks  Get feedback from Faculty  Answer Questions on look & feel, content etc.  Add / Correct Faculty pages Hand-out Form

PHASE II Tasks: Protocols  The Website is the public face of the DEPARTMENT AS A WHOLE Important to Recruitment, it should be unified, accurate, and complete  The website should serve the three distinct programs: BS/BA in GEOG BA in ISAT MS in ISAT

Phase II Protocols  There Should be a single editor within ISAT. All changes additions come through Editor, not to Creative Services.  Establish coordinated look to whole website All related pages should make clear their relationship to the Department and degree(s) All related pages should link BACK to the appropriate ISAT page and the standard links.

Some Dilemmas  Can we unify the look of the whole without losing its sense of diversity?  Can we work within the University disability and access guidelines but still intensify the high-tech look of our department?

Dilemmas:  The USE of the term “ISAT” should be consistent throughout: sometimes it’s the degree [different from GEOG], sometimes it’s the department [includes GEOG]  Sector pages probably shouldn’t repeat departmental/academic program information, often with different wording.

Dilemmas  Some information on Sector pages is supplementary or enriching for anyone interested in a particular set of problems, e.g. Energy, or Environment;  Some information on Sector pages is guidance for a student’s ISAT Academic Program, for which the site has other paths. There should be a single path.
