News & Business July 4 th Celebration: Jo-an Clarkson has once again planned a afternoon of fun, food and activities for the upcoming celebration. Flyers were delivered this week including the schedule of events, band information, and the order form for the Ames Place T-shirts. Thanks, Jo-an, for getting the information out quickly so that we can plan our weekend! Parking Stickers: All homeowners in Ames Place need neighborhood parking stickers to place on their cars. This will help ensure that your vehicles are not accidentally towed. Stickers can be obtained from secretary/treasurer Terry Entwistle. Terry prefers if you email her at entwistle@earthlink.net. If you need to call her, you can leave a message at 721-1382. Please be courteous and give her at least 48 hours to respond. entwistle@earthlink.net Exterior Changes to Homes: Our indentures require that any major exterior additions or changes to our home must be approved by your immediate neighbors (on each side of your house) and by at least two of the Agents. Examples of such work include new or replaced fences, decks, room additions, etc. Your immediate neighbors and at least two Agents must sign your plans before work begins. If you need U.City permits for your work, the City will require the signatures before issuing the permits. Please take this into account when planning your project. Confirmation of Paid Assessment: If you are selling your home, the title company will require documentation that the annual neighborhood assessment has been paid in full before closing. Plan ahead by calling the title company so that they can forward the needed form to our secretary (Terry Entwistle) at least 2 weeks in advance of the closing. Ames Place curtails administrative costs by having only a part-time secretary which results in some turnaround time being needed. Street Sweeping: University City will be cleaning/sweeping our streets on the afternoon of June 30 th, Wednesday. Please do not park your car on the streets during this time. Thank you. Fall Festival: Although summer has just begun, fall will be here quicker than we think. We need a new coordinator this year. To make it easy for someone to take over planning the event, an electronic master file is available that includes all flyers, signs, reminders, newsletter blurbs, grocery and activity lists as well as detailed bullets explaining the how-to’s. Traditionally the festival is on the Saturday before Halloween. That would be Saturday, October 30 th this year. Coordination efforts took about 8 hours last year spread over 3 weeks, which included shopping for food. If you are interested in coordinating the festival, please call Kat Robinson (726-4633). Construction Traffic: Construction continues with the MetroLink. Signs forbidding construction traffic from using our neighborhood roads are posted. If you see a construction vehicle using our streets, please notify an agent. Note the date, time and license number of the vehicle. Construction vehicles are extremely heavy and put an unusual high burden on our streets and may damage them. We just resurfaced our roads last fall. We do not want the costs of having them resurfaced again anytime soon. Report any construction vehicles using our streets! Website: It’s coming soon! If you have any suggestions of what you would like to see included on the website, please e-mail Kat at kat.robinson@charter.net. All suggestions will be forwarded for consideration.kat.robinson@charter.net Wildlife Alert: Have you noticed a low grade ‘who-o-o-o-o’ at dusk? Ames Place has an owl that is nesting high in the trees. When you go walking in the 6900 blocks, keep an eye and ear open! Call Kat Robinson (726-4633) or e-mail Kat.robinson@charter.net with information that you want included.Kat.robinson@charter.net 2004 Ames Place Agents Larry O’Neill 725-4018; Rich Geisler 721-1548; Mike Jurries 727-9917
