1. Technology and Education What I have learned in Technology and Education 346 Keri Jones

2. History of Computers In this chapter I learned about the history of computers. The origin of computers can be traced back to inventors who were interested in processing information and developing devices to simplify arithmetic calculations. It noted that the first calculation device is the ABACUS. This is surprising because this device still exists today.

3. Educational Milestones and Standards In this chapter I learned about milestones in technology that changed the way we learn. Computers are now have a wide range of uses in the classroom. In fact, if a classroom does not have a computer, now-a-days, it would be considered disadvantaged.

4. Getting Started on the Computer This chapter introduced the components and functions of the components of a computer. Though I knew the names of most of the components, I did not know all of the uses.

5. Word Processing In this chapter, I learned about the many features of word processor. Even though, I have used a word processor before, honestly, I did not use the features that the book outlined.

6. Desktop Publishing In this chapter, besides, simply reading about the features of desktop publishing, I learned how to create a newsletter, from online templates. Here is my newsletter.Newsletter2.docNewsletter2.doc

7. Databases, Spreadsheets & Integrated Programs In this chapters, I learned how to integrate databases and spreadsheets into the classroom. Honestly, I stayed away from database programs because I though that access was difficult. After begin forced to complete an access project, I found that it was not as difficult as I thought it was.

8. Multimedia This chapter was very interesting to me. Using multimedia programs seems like loads of fun. I think the class should have included more topics on “how to use different multimedia programs.” For example, it would have been very cool if we could have used a digital video recorder to make a short film, them edit, and produced the film.

9. Integrating the World Wide Web in the Classroom with considerations of Special Needs Students I found the information in these chapters very useful. As a future mathematics teacher, I know how important it is to use visual aids to increase learning.
