8. Checklist Setting the lancet by making sure that the ejector is yellow coloured. Check the colour of the strip is yellow which is the same as that on the strip box i.e. 0mg/dl. Check the expiry date for the strip Insert the glucose strip into the instrument.

9. Checklist Check the code number present on the strip box to match the one on the instrument Cleaning the pulp of the finger with the spirit swab Give a bold prick to the pulp of the finger with the lancet. Put a drop of blood when the indication comes in the instrument to cover the yellow portion of the strip.

10. Checklist Note the reading and record it. Dispose the strip and needle in the waste container. Switch off the instrument.
