1. 1957 January & February Martin Luther King, Charles K. Steele and Fred L. Shuttlesworth establish the Southern Christian Leadership Conference (SCLS) the major force of the Civil Rights Movement that bases it’s principles of nonviolence and civil disobedience.

2. 1957 September 9 students are blocked from entering into the school of Little Rock. President Eisenhower sent troops to protect the students of Little Rock, Arkansas.

3. 1960 February 1 Greensboro, NC-Four black students from North Carolina Agricultural and Technical College are refused service in Woolworth’s lunch counter.

4. 2005 June 21-Edgar Ray Killen the ringleader of the Mississippi Civil Rights murders, is convicted of manslaughter on the 41 st anniversary of the crimes.
