5. “Accelerated” Means….  Accelerated Program  A more rigorous pace  Covering 6 th grade standards and half of 7 th to prepare for 7H  Application and challenge problems  More discussion among peers and writing opportunities We’re piloting new math books this year! Fall: Big Ideas Spring: To be determined by district

On a typical day in math class students… Get out homework or class work from the previous day Complete a math warm-up/challenge problem Correct warm-up and HW or class work Lesson - students take notes Activities – peer group investigations Work on class work And smile because they’re having fun!

7. Math Homework Collected sporadically Graded for effort and showing work LATE WORK: - 1 st trimester - docked 10% -2 nd trimester - docked 50% -3 rd t rimester - no late work

8. Math Composition Book Compilation class notes Should be reviewed for quizzes and tests Kept all year

9. Math Message and Class Work Kept in 3-ring binder in appropriate divider until the end of the chapter. Packets for each section due at the end of the chapter on test day. Students will receive one grade for each packet. Assignments must be complete with work shown.

10. Math Grading 40% Tests 30%Quizzes 20% Class work 10% Homework √+ = 100% √ = 85% √ - = 70%

11. Science Spiral  Due at end of chapter  Table of Contents  Graded on: completion of assignments + current Table to Contents Science Homework  Collected unless assignment is done in spiral LATE WORK: 1 st trimester - docked 10% 2 nd trimester - docked 50% 3 rd trimester - no late work

14. Trimester grading Grades are not cumulative Grades found on Q (for password information contact Gina Sillers in the office) Please check your child’s progress regularly

Absences If a student is absent:  Homework missed is turned in per district policy.  Students are excused from missed quizzes.  Missed tests are usually made up on the day of return.  All make-up work is the responsibility of the student.  Absence File  Study-buddy  Edmodo  Class Posters
