Make Project- Airplane Style By: Aaron Levett, Gloria Noble, and Nicole Floyd-Stancil
2
What is our Project? For our project, we made paper airplanes using different models and paper types, and then tested their speed to see which models were the fastest. We used the Arrow, Moth, Kite, and Dart paper airplanes. Below are examples of the models.

The Moth Model Airplane

Who Did What? Aaron did a very little amount of the building, but also did most of the testing. Gloria did some of the building in the beginning and then moved on to do the testing with Aaron. Nicole did most of the actual building of the paper airplanes, as well as being the main creator of this powerpoint.

What Went Well? Making all of the model airplanes were really a lot easier than we had expected. The testing of the paper airplanes also went well, but there were also some difficulties.
9
What Challenges Did We Face? We had to redo some of our testing due to inaccuracy/bad throwing and some airplanes because of the condition of the most recent planes, which were bent and warped. We also had to use Aaron’s phone for the tests so when he didn’t bring it, it subtracted time from the tests. We sometimes had some technical difficulties with the computers and cameras, such as batteries running out and the computer freezing.
10
What Did We Discover? For the open door test the Arrow made out of notebook paper flew the longest time: approximately 2 seconds (average). For the test of the airplanes outside the Arrow made out of the notebook paper flew approximately 1.9 seconds (average), in all it was in the air the longest. For the Brutal Force test (Throwing the airplanes with all of your arm strength) the Moth made out of copy paper flew approximately 3 seconds (average) in all this was in the air the longest. In terms of the time, the brutal force helped the airplanes glide in the air longer. But if you look at the results, the Arrow made of the notebook paper got better results in the tests. Here is our data table:
