10. Greek Music The dramatic arts were very important and music was always an integral part of the performance. “Greeks considered music to be a way of exalting the glory of God. 13. Harmony, Melodies, Rhythm Music was entirely monodic, there was no harmony. Music was centered on melody, rhythm and mode. In western music we know modes as “major” and “ minor.”

14. Mode 5 modes: Ionian, Aeolian, Lydian, Dorian and Phryian. These modes were put together in a relationship between notes that no other mode could produce alone. Dorian= material, Phrygian=engendered contentment, Mixolydian(1 of the sub modes) = plaintive, Ionian softly alluring/ seduction easier. Music sounded like a medieval music of Europe, importance of cathy, easily sing able melodies, exaggerated rhythms, and simple instrumental accompaniment

16. The Pitch! The movie will start off explaining the history of Greek music narrated by Ryan Secrest. Celebrities/ Musicians will go back to Greece where they find the roots of their modern music. They can tell how their music interest developed and how music influenced their lives. They will find connections between their love of music and the love of music in ancient Greece. The audiences will hear a personal and intimate story from each celebrity about their musical careers.
