Attendance (40%) Attend the weekly meetings. –Public health presentations, guest speaker sessions, and project group meetings are valuable resources for you to make the most out of your time here. You are expected to show up at project group meetings and building sessions. Up to 3 excused absences (e.g., exams and emergencies) Each unexcused absence is minus 10% from your total grade.

12. Project Participation (40%) EWH members must be active in at least one project. Projects are assigned based on preference and availability. We will try to accommodate everyone’s requests. Graded on effort Two open project groups: –Electronics (Eric) –HIV diagnostics device (Yash)

13. Electronics Learn about concepts related to basic circuitry and hands-on applications such as breadboarding and soldering Build ECG simulators which will be shipped (functional or not) to third world countries

HIV Diagnostics Device Design a compact, cheap microfluidic device to diagnose whether someone has HIV through saliva sampling After learning about AutoCAD, you will either create your own AutoCAD device as a team or expand on previous year’s device. Devices will be 3D printed and tested for fluid control, etc.

15. Microcentrifuge Rapidly spins heterogeneous mixtures to separate materials. Draw microcentrifuge components in AutoCAD Manufacture prototypes in the machine shop

16. Public Health Presentations (20%) Expose members to current global health issues and challenges Present background, epidemiology, treatments, etc. on public health topics 15 minutes: 10 minutes lecture + 5 minutes Q&A
