3 Who was Martin Luther King Jr.?
Born January 15, 1929 Died: April 4, 1968 Martin Luther King Jr. was the most important voice of the American civil rights movement, which worked for equal rights for all. He did all he could to make people realize that "all men are created equal." Because of his great work, in 1964 King received the Nobel Peace Prize -- the youngest person ever to receive this high honor. To read more about Dr. Kings life, click here.

8 Interesting Facts Martin Luther King Jr. was born Michael Luther King Jr., but later had his name changed to Martin. He and his wife Coretta had two sons and two daughters. In the eleven-year period between 1957 and 1968, King traveled over six million miles and spoke over twenty-five hundred times. At the age of thirty-five, Martin Luther King, Jr., was the youngest man to have received the Nobel Peace Prize.
