TC100 Energy-efficiency Policies (1) “Low-carbon, green growth” Brand-new Korean government’s fundamental policy Enhancement of the economic growth potential based on low carbon emission and green industrialization Also emphasis on the balance between environment and growth MLTM (Ministry of Land, Transport and Maritime affairs) “Architectural design standards for energy saving” became effective from Nov. 18, 2008. Regulation No: 2008-652 KNHC (Korean National Housing Corporation) Release of new functional specification of wall outlets in Sep. 2008. Obligation to adopt energy-saving wall outlets in new housing will be forced by KNHC from 2009

TC100 Energy-efficiency Policies (2) Seoul Metropolitan Government Release of newly revised ordinance on Mar.23, 2009 “Guideline of architectural design standards for low carbon, green energy” Obligation to use of energy saving wall outlets more than 80% will be forced Other activities “The 3 rd C40 Large Cities Climate Summit 2009” and “C40 Seoul Climate Change EXPO” are being held in Seoul from May 18 to 21, 2009.

TC100 Remark Korean government and companies have been and will be continuously considering energy efficiency issues seriously and developing related regulations, guidelines and technologies. We wish to support and contribute to Energy Efficiency Ad Hoc Group or a prospective TA in IEC/TC100. Standardization of energy savings at home Energy Savings System (ESS) for home appliances and network devices – Part 1: Architecture and requirements (NP submitted on May 9, 2009)
