Digital Repository Service Initial focus on implementing the collections environment in VITAL/Fedora. Active, ongoing work toward digital preservation modeling.

Collections Architecture ________________________________________________ Fedora + VITAL (VTLS) –Combination of open-source development coupled with vendor support. –Fedora promises greater flexibility, versatility, ability to communicate with external systems and opportunities for future development. –Vendor support and enhancements offset our level-of-effort and jump-start the DRS. Time Line ________________________________________________ May 24/25: Training June: Configuration options, test ingests, batch load configuration, collection preparation, re-book requirements defined. July: Throughout month re-books re-loaded several times as we worked though the content model. Finding Aids and StatCat requirements defined. Aug: Vital release upgrade; Re-books review/report; Finding aids loads started; Re-book beta at the end of the month. Sept: Finding aids review/report; Finding aids beta; StatCat started; Re-book assessment and requirements revision. Oct: Repeat from July. New collections from Working Group. 15 August 2007 Collections
