2 Simile Comparing two unlike things using LIKE or AS He is like a super hero on the football field. Her hair is like golden wheat swinging in the breeze. Her attitude is as rotten as 10 day old sour milk!

3 Metaphor Making a comparison of 2 unlike things WITHOUT using Like or As! The math test was a beast! The neighbor is a dragon. My girlfriend is a princess.

4 Alliteration Repetition of BEGINNING consonant sounds. The slithering snake slid sideways. Rachel ran to her room for rest.

5 Hyperbole An exaggeration so extreme that it’s hard to believe He weighs as much as an elephant! I’m so hungry I could eat a horse! He watched so much TV his eyes popped out!
