The Information It was time for Halloween. Jeff and Andy are trick-or-treating all over the neighborhood. Jeff has 12 jawbreakers, 10 chocolate bars, 8 lollipops, and 16 candy corn. Andy has 14 jawbreakers, 6 chocolate bars, 12 lollipops, and 10 candy corn.

The Problem Jeff and Andy wants to trade candy. Jeff wants 4 more jawbreakers than Andy. Andy wants 5 more candy corn than the most candy in his candy pile. Jeff wants 2 more lollipops than chocolate bars. Andy wants 8 chocolate bars. How will Andy and Jeff trade to get the candy they want? Who will have the most candy?

Answering the Problem FAndy gave 3 jawbreakers to Jeff. FAndy gave 2 lollipops to Jeff. FJeff gives 2 chocolate bars to Andy. FJeff gives 6 candy corn to Andy. FAndy gave 3 jawbreakers to Jeff. FAndy gave 2 lollipops to Jeff. FJeff gives 2 chocolate bars to Andy. FJeff gives 6 candy corn to Andy.

Conclusion Jeff and Andy finished trading candy. Jeff now has 15 jawbreakers, 8 chocolate bars, 10 lollipops, and 10 candy corn. Andy now has 11 jawbreakers, 8 chocolate bars, 10 lollipops, and 16 candy corn. The one who had the most candy was Andy. Andy had 45 pieces of candy and Jeff had 43 pieces of candy. Jeff and Andy finished trading candy. Jeff now has 15 jawbreakers, 8 chocolate bars, 10 lollipops, and 10 candy corn. Andy now has 11 jawbreakers, 8 chocolate bars, 10 lollipops, and 16 candy corn.
