Gerund u A verb + ing that is now a noun u Dance + ing = Dancing is fun. u In that sentence dancing is the s/n u I enjoy eating. (eating is the do/n) u She will be walking tomorrow. (DON’T FORGET THAT VERB+ING CAN STILL BE A PROGRESSIVE VERB)

Infinitive u To + verb u Can now be anythng BUT a verb or a prepositional phrase u To sleep is my only desire. u To sleep would be the s/n u I love to eat. To eat would be the do/n u Her desire to act is strong. To act is an adj

Participle u Verb + d, ed, or ing that is now an adjective. u The man DRESSED in black is the robber. u The woman WEARING the blue dress is my teacher. u WALKING through the park, I saw a bear. u He is a LIVING legend. u GASPING frantically, she told of the terror.

NOW YOU DO IT u Tell the parts of speech in the following sentences. u She enjoys reading. u I love to ski. u Needing a break, he walked a mile. u She wants to eat hamburgers and french fries.
