Paint is made up of three parts- Binder Pigment Solvent http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R2cCoswXvZA
4
The pigment is what gives the paint its color. It can come from natural sources or from chemicals.
5
The binder helps the pigment stick together and to stick to the painting surface. Examples would be gum arabic, acrylic resin, egg, linseed oil http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SeEkzyz5DUM&feature=related
6
Solvent- controls the consistency of the paint and how the paint moves as it is being applied. The solvent, in the paint, evaporates and is not a permanent part of the paint.
