2.  Open up the following PDFs  Searching for Closure  Tampering  Teenage pregnancies  We are going to be reading these aloud.  Would anyone like to help me read? You must loud.

3.  Let’s talk  What are your reactions to the stories?  Are they different from other sorts of writing you are familiar with?  How so?

4.  Open up the PDF labeled “Suicide.”

5.  Let’s take five minutes to write out a reflection.  Get a sheet of paper, head it “News Story Reflection” and write your response to the following question:  “What made this story powerful/memorable/funny/moving?”  Don’t ask me “how much.” Write for the full five minutes and get your thoughts out!

6.  We’re going to split into cubicle groups and share your reflections. Discuss, converse about the stories. Think of different points of view.  I’m going to walk around from group to group. If you aren’t discussing the stories and your reflections then you lose points for the day (50, to be exact).

7.  Now let us share some of our reflections with the class.  What made the stories powerful, effective, etc.?  What was different about the writing.

8.  On the SAME sheet of paper as your reflection, answer this prompt.  You must write—at a minimum—five grammatically correct sentences explaining your answer. Homework assignment: Do something fun over the weekend. That’s an order!
