Grammar Semicolon Rule #1 Use a semicolon between independent clauses that are closely related in thought or subject and NOT joined by a coordinating conjunction. Independent clauses: You MUST have a sentence before and after the semicolon. EX: Please put it in a trash can; that’s good for everyone. NOTE: This is the same as the comma rule FANBOYS and two independent clauses. EX: Please put it in a trash can, for that’s good for everyone.

Vocabulary Create a short story using your vocabulary words (and include the definition in parentheses).

Literary Swat You will be divided into 2 teams. One person from each team will face off. I will give the definition of a literary term. Each person will then turn to the board and try to be the first to find the correct literary term.
