Grammar  Semicolon Rule #1  Use a semicolon between independent clauses that are closely related in thought or subject and NOT joined by a coordinating conjunction.  Independent clauses: You MUST have a sentence before and after the semicolon.  EX: Please put it in a trash can; that’s good for everyone.  NOTE: This is the same as the comma rule FANBOYS and two independent clauses.  EX: Please put it in a trash can, for that’s good for everyone.

3. Vocabulary  Create a short story using your vocabulary words (and include the definition in parentheses).

4. Literary Swat  You will be divided into 2 teams.  One person from each team will face off.  I will give the definition of a literary term.  Each person will then turn to the board and try to be the first to find the correct literary term.
