2 Publicity Responsibilities: -makes sure the public knows about the performance and wants to buy tickets -creates all forms of ads and news releases (physical and electronic), talks with the media Where they work in the theatre: -box office or production office Other positions they work closely with: -Production Manager

3 Production Manager Responsibilities: -figures out budget; sets times, dates and location of production; runs production meetings -hires design team, director, stage manager, etc -makes sure everything is finished before opening night Where they work in the theatre: -production office and/or the box office Other positions they work closely with: -Director, Stage Manager, Publicity, Design Heads

4 Costume Designer Responsibilities: -figures out costumes for all actors; shows character’s personality, relationships, age, etc -follows the style/time period of the play -creates a “costume plot” (shows costume changes) Where they work in the theatre: -Costume wardrobe, backstage Other positions they work closely with: -Director, Stage Manager, Actors, Wardrobe Assistants

5 Lighting Designer Responsibilities: -figures out and sets the lighting for the production (helps create location, time and mood; follows style) -watches rehearsal to find lighting cues (lighting plot); runs lights during rehearsal and performances Where they work in the theatre: -lighting booth and in the rafters (where the lights hang) Other positions they work closely with: -Director, Stage Manager

6 Stage Manager Responsibilities: -is the director’s second in command -organizes and runs rehearsals; calls the director’s cues -communicates director’s wishes to design team -in charge of the stage during performances (calls cues, runs backstage and backstage crew) Where they work in the theatre: -mainly backstage, but also wherever the director needs them Other positions they work closely with: -Director, Design Team, Actors, Backstage crew

7 Director Responsibilities: -has an overall “vision” of the final performance (based on the script and their own interpretations of it) -has final say regarding costumes, lights, set, and props; casts actors in their roles; creates blocking -gives direction to actors during the rehearsals; solves any staging problems Where they work in the theatre: Everywhere!! Other positions they work closely with: -works with everyone, especially Stage Manager, Design Team, Actors and Production Manager

8 Stage Combat Choreographer
Responsibilities: -designs any fights/violence needed for a play (based on story and director’s vision) -teaches the stage combat needed to the actors; makes the violence safe for all actors Where they work in the theatre: -on the stage (during rehearsals) Other positions they work closely with: -Director, Stage Manager, Actors
