Write definitions Hue: another name for color. Ex. Red, blue, orange, etc. Intensity: refers to the color’s strength. Ex. Fire engine red has a higher intensity than brick red.

Value: the color’s lightness or darkness
Value: the color’s lightness or darkness. There are two types of values: Tints and shades. Value Tint Shade A light color; A dark color A color mixed with white A color mixed with black

The Color Wheel Primary colors: Red, yellow, blue. Can not be mixed
Secondary colors: Green, purple/violet, Orange. Can only be made my mixing primary colors.

Color schemes Analogous colors: 3-4 colors that are next to each other on the wheel Complementary colors: Colors that are opposite each other Monochromatic: One color with its shades and tints.

Color schemes cont’d Neutrals: made by mixing complementary colors together. Warm colors: red, orange, yellow. Cool colors: green, blue, purple
