2.5 billion people in the world do not have access to adequate sanitation, (1 in 3 of the world's population.) Lack of access to clean water and sanitation kills children at a rate equivalent of a jumbo jet crashing every four hours. More people have a mobile phone than a toilet. The 2015 goal to halve the proportion of people living without sanitation is running 150 years behind schedule in sub-Saharan Africa.
