Radioactivity By Naeema, Anum, Tanzeela and Shomaila
3
What is radio-activity?
4
Definition Radioactivity is the spontaneous disintegration of nucleus of an atom and emission of invisible rays from the nucleus of an atoms.
5
Discovery of radio-activity In 1898, a French physicists Henry Becquerel discovered the process of radioactivity.
6
Radioactive elements The substances which emit radiation from their nuclei are known as “radioactive elements”.
7
Radioactive rays There are three types of radioactive rays. Alfa-ray (have positive charge) Beta-ray (have negative charge) Gamma-ray (have no charge/ neutral)
8
Uses of radioactivity Radioactivity is used in Weapons Explosive materials Researches Medical science
9
Example of radioactive elements UraniumPlatinumRadiumPoloniumActiniumThorium
