ACCOUNTABILITY  Take Home Folders-check every day, especially Fridays-they should ALWAYS have Assignment Sheets in them-check for homework!  Long term calendars also ‘live’ in Take Home Folders  Binders-stay at school. 7. WHAT IS DIFFERENTIATION? Individualized Instruction Means:  Content goals are standardized but students’ individual growth is the main focus.  Valuing family background and cultural values  Social & emotional needs COINCIDE with academic development -PLEASE- Write down anything I should know about your child!

READING ASSESSMENT  Most valuable assessment is classroom based, ongoing  Fountas and Pinnell Benchmark System (BAS)  SRI measures vocabulary & gives a lexile score  Comprehension responses show achievement of specific skills and require going back to the text for quotations/proof of understanding and vocabulary.
