Welcome to the Achievement Testing Pre-Test Training Session 1. I am Mary Pat Wood, State Test Coordinator for Achievement Tests. This session of the Achievement Testing Pre-Test Training will cover Achievement District Test Coordinator responsibilities for all achievement tests that will be administered for the School Year Achievement tests include AzMERIT Fall 2015, Spring 2016 and Summer 2016 test administrations and the Spring 2016 AIMS Science. 4 Aligned to Arizona’s K-12 Academic Standards for English Language Arts and Mathematics
Available in Computer-Based-Test (CBT) and Paper-Based-Test (PBT) Vendors American Institutes for Research (AIR) Measurement Incorporated (MI) American Institutes for Research (AIR) is the vendor for AzMERIT and they provide the online testing platform. Measurement Incorporated (MI) is the vendor that AIR has subcontracted for the paper assessments. MI will be handling the printing, shipping, and processing of all AzMERIT test materials. AzMERIT

5 AzMERIT Grades 3 – 8 ELA Math Reading and Writing
For Example, students in Grade 8 taking Algebra I for high school credit, will not be required to take the Grade 8 math test. AzMERIT

6 AzMERIT End-of-Course (EOC) High School level courses ELA
ELA 9, ELA 10, ELA 11 Math Algebra I, Geometry, Algebra II AzMERIT EOC Math tests are aligned to high school level math courses for Algebra I, Geometry, Algebra II or their equivalents. AzMERIT

7 AIMS Science Students in Grades 4 and 8
High School Students in Cohorts 2018 or 2019 Aligned to Arizona Academic Content Standard for Science High school level aligned to Strands 1-4 Vendor Pearson Pearson is the vendor for AIMS Science. Pearson will be handling the printing, shipping, and processing of all AIMS Science materials. AIMS Science tests are paper version only. AIMS Science

8 District Test Coordinator
District Superintendent or Charter Representative must designate an Achievement Testing District Test Coordinator. Referred to as District Test Coordinator during these trainings. Responsible for AzMERIT and AIMS Science Tests If the District Test Coordinator information changes anytime during the year, a new Assessment Test Coordinator Information form must be submitted before ADE will update any contact information. A copy of the Assessment Test Coordinator Information form is located on the ADE Website. District Test Coordinator

The resources that are available for District Test Coordinators for AzMERIT and AIMS Science can be located on the ADE website, AzMERIT Portal, or on PearsonAccess. District Test Coordinators must be familiar with all resources for each test administration. Resources for District Test Coordinators

11 Quarterly Newsletter sent from the ADE Assessment Department
August November February May The Examiner is the newsletter that is sent out to all District Test Coordinators concerning all state assessments. The Examiner is sent out quarterly - August, November, February, and May. If you did not receive a copy, these are located on the ADE website for Test Coordinators. These newsletters have information about what will be expected for the upcoming months. With the amount of information in these newsletters, we recommend that you print a copy and review it frequently. The Examiner

15 Responsibilities Before Testing
Correct administration of all achievement testing AzMERIT Computer-Based Testing Paper-Based Testing AIMS Science District Test Coordinator may delegate some responsibilities to School Test Coordinators However, ultimately District Test Coordinator assumes ultimate responsibility. The District Test Coordinator is responsible for the correct administration of AzMERIT testing and AIMS Science testing throughout the district or charter. This includes organizing and implementing the activities necessary to conduct testing in the schools. To facilitate these activities, some of the responsibilities may be delegated to School Test Coordinators. However, the District Test Coordinator assumes ultimate responsibility. Submit a signed copy of the Test Security Agreement signed by the Superintendent or Charter Representative and the District Test Coordinator to ADE prior to the first test administration your district/charter will be participating in. Each staff member will also be required to submit a security agreement. A change from previous years is that the Superintendent/Charter Representative Test Security Agreement only has to be submitted once to cover all achievement test administrations throughout the school year. Implement and maintain test security procedures, Communicate test security procedures and responsibilities to the Test Administrators, and Schedule and train Test Administrators on test administration procedures. District Test Coordinators must implement and maintain test security procedures and communicate test security procedures and responsibilities to the Test Administrators. It is the responsibility of the District Test Coordinator to schedule testing activities and train all Test Administrators on test administration procedures. Any security violations must be reported to ADE by the District Test Coordinator. Responsibilities Before Testing

Prepare lists of students testing, Schedule testing activities within the district or charter schools, Communicate testing schedules, Train Test Administrators on test administration procedures, Help select appropriate classrooms or other sites where testing will take place, Help prepare sites where testing will take place, Inventory all test materials when they arrive in the district, Arrange for sufficient supply of required materials, and Follow up on all test questions from Test Administrators. For each test administration, District Test Coordinators are responsible to make sure that all students expected to test are tested. The District Test Coordinator must provide training for all Test Administrators, schedule the appropriate test, and select rooms that will be used for testing. District Test Coordinators are responsible for inventorying materials when they arrive in district, and making sure that all materials needed for testing, are available. The District Test Coordinator is the contact person for Test Administrators if there are any questions concerning testing. Responsibilities Before Testing

19 Additional Responsibilities for AzMERIT
Tasks to be complete in TIDE: Verify students enrollment in TIDE, Selecting appropriate accommodations in TIDE, Large Print and Braille Add appropriate users in TIDE, Verify all Test Administrators have completed the Test Administration Certification Course; District Test Coordinators are also responsible for verifying that all district and school users are registered appropriately in TIDE. District Test Coordinators must make sure all Test Administrators administering the Computer-Based Tests have completed the TA Certification Course. The TA Certification Course must be completed each school year. Additional Responsibilities for AzMERIT

20 Additional Responsibilities for AzMERIT (CBT)
Prior to administering AzMERIT Computer-Based Tests: Add the new Secure Browser to all devices that will be used for CBT Ensure that devices to be used for testing are ready; Train Test Administrators in the use of the online testing platform; Ensure Test Administrators and students have had appropriate practice with the AzMERIT Sample Tests; and Prepare test tickets for students, if applicable. All Test Administrators must be trained on the use of the online testing platform and all Test Administrators and students must complete the AzMERIT Sample Tests. If your school will be using test tickets for students, these will also need to be prepared and printed. Additional Responsibilities for AzMERIT (CBT)

21 Additional Responsibilities for AzMERIT (PBT)
Prior to administering Paper-Based Tests: Receive, inventory, and order additional test materials; Apply Pre-ID Labels to test booklets; Print additional Pre-ID Labels as needed; Arrange for a supply of commercially published paper dictionaries and commercially published paper thesauruses for use on ELA Writing only; Arrange for a supply of appropriate calculators for use, when permitted, on Math only; and Ensure students familiarize students with how the innovative-computer-based item types will render on the paper-based form of the test; All students that will be taking the AzMERIT Paper-Based Tests must be familiar with how the item types will look on the Paper-Based Test. 22 Additional Responsibilities for AIMS Science
Order test materials from Pearson Receive test materials from Pearson; Inventory materials and Test Coordinator’s Kits upon arrival; Order additional materials, if necessary; The District Test Coordinator is responsible for orderng AIMS Science test materials from Pearson. When the AIMS Science materials arrive, they must be inventoried and if necessary, an additional order must be placed. Additional Responsibilities for AIMS Science

Monitor all testing activities, Ensure the test security procedures are followed; Ensure that test administration procedures are followed; and Report any testing improprieties to ADE. CBT through TIDE PBT and AIMS Science using Testing Incident Report All test improprieties for AzMERIT Computer-Based Tests must be reported through TIDE. All test improprieties for AzMERIT Paper-Based Tests and AIMS Science will be reported to ADE using the Test Incident Report that is available on the ADE website. Responsibilities During Testing

25 Additional Responsibilities for AzMERIT (PBT) and AIMS Science
Maintain an accurate inventory of all test materials; Check out/in test booklets to the Test Administrators during testing; Each day of testing, a record must be maintained of everyone in a test room, this is to include: Test Administrator, Test Proctor, Any other adult that was in room during the test session, and A list of all students in room and test they are taking. For security purposes, each school must maintain a record of everyone that is in a test room during a test session. This record must include the Test Administrator, Test Proctor or any other adult, a list of all students in each test room, and test being administered. This list must be retained with copies of the school Test Security Agreements. Additional Responsibilities for AzMERIT (PBT) and AIMS Science

Verify all students that were expected to test have completed all test sessions prior to test window closing. Report any testing improprieties to ADE. After testing, verify all students that are expected to test have completed all test sessions. Students must complete missed test sessions before the end of the test window. 28 Responsibilities After Testing AzMERIT PBT and AIMS Science
Ensure all student responses have been transferred to a regular AzMERIT test booklet or AIMS Science answer document. Large Print, Braille, assistive technology, contaminated materials Dispose or securely dispose appropriate AzMERIT materials Box materials for return shipping; Ensure scorable and nonscorable materials are prepared for return by the scheduled return dates. Contact shipping vendor and have materials out of the building per the dates that are provided in the appropriate Test Coordinator Manual. Students that used Large Print, Braille version tests and students that used assistive technology or had contaminated materials must have their responses transferred to a regular AzMERIT test booklet or AIMS Science answer document. Responses not transferred to a regular test booklet or answer document will not be scored. Some AzMERIT materials will either be disposed or securely disposed at the school or district. The District Test Coordinator is responsible to make sure that scorable and nonscorable materials are properly boxed per the Test Coordinator Manuals for each test administration. The District Test Coordinator must contact the appropriate shipping vendor to have materials picked up and out of the building by the dates provided for each test administration. This session covered the District Test Coordinator Responsibilities. These responsibilities are for both the AzMERIT and the AIMS Science tests. There are additional sessions that also must be viewed to complete the Pre-Test Training for the School Year. Session 2 - Test Administrator Responsibilities Session 3 – AIR Systems Session 4 – Fall 2015 AzMERIT EOC Session 5 – Spring 2016 AzMERIT Grades 3 – 8 and EOC Session 6 – Spring 2016 AIMS Science There will be 3 additional sessions that will be specifically for each test administration. Session 4 for the Fall AzMERIT EOC administration will only be available through December. Sessions 5 and 6 will be available January – May. District Test Coordinator Responsibilities
