2 HCAL production, QC and preparation for installation The general status of module construction at IHEP 21.09.04 Rustem DZHELYADIN (IHEP, Protvino) ISTC start Raw spacer delivery delay Support return 21.09.04 #45+46 Arrives 21.09.04 #47+48 Leaves 23.09.04

3 HCAL production, QC and preparation for installation The status of optics assembly at CERN 21.09.04 Rustem DZHELYADIN (IHEP, Protvino) Module/week Module/10days 50% = ½ HCAL 100% = 2 / 2 HCAL 21.09.04 #44 pass QC test 15.09.04

4 HCAL production, QC and preparation for installation The on-line optics quality check with 137 Cs 21.09.04 Rustem DZHELYADIN (IHEP, Protvino) Module #30, PMT #7 Tile light yield in the cell Seen: minor under-compensation along fiber

5 HCAL production, QC and preparation for installation The module beam test @ X7 SPS 21.09.04 Rustem DZHELYADIN (IHEP, Protvino) beam

6 HCAL production, QC and preparation for installation The pulse shape study on the beam for layers 21.09.04 Rustem DZHELYADIN (IHEP, Protvino) Electron beam 30 GeV HCAL @ 90 o 1-st layer 6-th layer COMPENSATION CORRECTION for 25 ns integrating time L-1 1,000 L-20,998 L-30,989 L-40,982 L-50,959 L-60,941 25 ns

7 HCAL production, QC and preparation for installation The status of optics quality check with 137 Cs 26.05.04 Rustem DZHELYADIN (IHEP, Protvino) 44 modules HCAL test results 1304/1488 = 87.6% Average = 4.7% Tile to tile RMS within cell

8 HCAL production, QC and preparation for installation The PMT+HV base assembly and test 21.09.04 Rustem DZHELYADIN (IHEP, Protvino) CW all delivered Solder/test in progress Insertion ½ HCAL mid October 2/2 HCAL waiting for PMT’s delivery

9 HCAL production, QC and preparation for installation The 137 Cs, LED and HV control hardware 21.09.04 Rustem DZHELYADIN (IHEP, Protvino) HYDRO system 2 Garage ready 2 Pump delivery 24.05.04delivered 2 Hydro Box construction 30.09.04in progress 2 set of control electronics final design 1.07.04completed construction 1.11.041-st set under test @ CERN LED/HV control first board (160 ch.) 1.08.04under test @ CERN construction 1.03.05 LED driversprototype 1.08.04under test @ CERN construction 1.03.05 Date of completion

10 HCAL production, QC and preparation for installation Pre-installation pile-up test and survey experience 21.09.04 Rustem DZHELYADIN (IHEP, Protvino) Robert Kristic’s measurement:

11 HCAL production, QC and preparation for installation Modules final test with the 137 Cs source 21.09.04 Rustem DZHELYADIN (IHEP, Protvino) Test zone in bldg.157 137 Cs run 4 modules HV set for PMT Check cable/connections Light protection Damage reparation Start10.10.04 50%10.12.04 100%10.03.05

12 HCAL production, QC and preparation for installation Modules final test with the 137 Cs source 21.09.04 Rustem DZHELYADIN (IHEP, Protvino) Test zone in bldg.157 Barrack available Cables exist PC computer required: 3.2 GHz P4 processor 1 Gb RAM memory ~120 Gb HDD 3-4 PCI slots Tasks: HV/LED control HYDRO control 137 CS data bank PMT’s data bank

13 HCAL production, QC and preparation for installation Modules final test with the 137 Cs source (2/2 HCAL) 21.09.04 Rustem DZHELYADIN (IHEP, Protvino) Test zone in bldg.156 Idea – not to move to b.157 modules already on place exclude damage risk economy of manpower 14 working days truck+crane+crew Required extend blue wall ~10m confirm space occupancy RP approval

14 HCAL production, QC and preparation for installation The problems to be solved 21.09.04 Rustem DZHELYADIN (IHEP, Protvino)  Manpower for optics assembly (Romanian, Ukrainian technicians) October-November’04  PC-computer for final test in b.156/157, later in the pit.  Cross calibration “25 ns” LFB and LeCroy QCD’s. ?? LFB counts per 1 GeV ??  Financing from RF-I unavailable since April !!! could postpone modules construction => April’05

15 HCAL production, QC and preparation for installation Conclusions 21.09.04 Rustem DZHELYADIN (IHEP, Protvino) Provided problems would be solved Construction completion by November’04 looks straightforward Optics assembly completion by Christmas Final module check (cabling, PMT+CW, rad.source test) 50% in December’2004 100% in March’2005 Installation can start within new schedule timetable
