Note: This PowerPoint was designed to introduce the new curriculum to instructors and to get them familiar and comfortable with presenting the Marriage and Family curriculum.

Introducing The Course GRABBING YOUR STUDENTS ATTENTION. Use a story, news article, personal experience Show a movie that displays different family situations Do an open dialog Post a scenario on the display board Re-enactment of a possible situation Note: This curriculum encourage instructors to get creative to gain students’ attention. For example using a clip from movie that has a jaw dropping scene. Then allow the participants to discuss in an open form format.

Use prior knowledge to make a connection with your students. Life experience Excerpt from a book or movie News article We all have something in common. Notes: Allowing participants to share personal experiences helps to bring about empathy and connections. Everyone can relate to each. For its children, others, siblings, spouses etc. Life experiences are also a great way to connect. Don’t disassociate with your participants, Let them know you are human and have issues as well. You will gain their respect.

Have a lot of fun creating games Share your birth order assessment List or state your Characteristics. Have students guess your birth order. Notes: Allow your mind to run wild. Always include yourself into the activities. This can work as quick assessment to ensure that the participants are pay attention and are retaining the information. If they are engaged they are attentive and are learning.

INCORPORATING INCORPORATING TEXT UTILIZING TEXTBENEFITS ALLOWS THE USE OF DIFFERENT TEACHING TECHNIQUES Text will validate the information being taught. It allows the information to be tangible. It can be used in groups or by individuals. By reading the text students will use other senses to absorb the information Students can reflect back on the information HELPS TO ENSURE ABSORPTOIN OF MATERIAL Notes: You must remember that no one person Learns the same. Your task is to empower families and relationships. Using every tool available to make sure that the majority of your participants are learning and ensuring understanding.

Have students do research on issue of choice. Have students analyze and offer solutions Types of conflict resolutions TECHNOLOGY to APPLICATION KEEP STUDENTS IN TOUCH WITH MODERN TECHNOLOGY. Notes: Technology is a part of our everyday life. This is also a life skill. It helps those who are uncomfortable with utilizing technology (more specifically computers) to address their fears in a comfortable learning atmosphere.
