3
Circle Circle-The set of all points in a plane at a distance r from a given point called the center. The distance r is the radius of the circle
4
Circles Circle with center (0,0) Standard Form: x²+y²=r² Circle with center (h,k) Standard Form: (x-h)²+(y-k)²=r²
5
E1 A tree in your garden has a ring of flowers. Each flower is four feet from the center of the tree trunk. You draw a coordinate grid to model your yard. The tree trunk is located at (-4,3). Write an equation that models the ring of flowers.
6
E1 Answer Center: (-4,3) (h,k) h= -4 k= 3 Radius: r=4 (x-h)²+(y-k)²=r² (x-(-4))²+(y-(3))²=r² (x+4)²+(y-3)²=r²
7
E2 Find the center and the radius of the circle then draw the graph (x-3)²+(y+2)²=16
8
E2 Answer (x-3)²+(y+2)²=16 Center: (3,-2) Radius: r=4
9
E3 Write the equation in standard form then state the center and radius x²+y²+8x-10=-16 (x²+8x+16)+(y²-10y+25)=-16+16+25
10
E3 Answer x²+y²+8x-10=-16 (x²+8x+16)+(y²-10y+25)=-16+16+25 (x+4) ²+(y-5) ²=25 Center: (-4,5) Radius: r=25
11
E4 Write the equation in standard form, then state the center and radius x²+y²-6y+3=0
12
E4 Answer x²+y²-6y+3=0 x²+(y²-6y+9)=-3+9 x²+(y-3) ²=6 Center: (0,-3) Radius: r= √ 6
