1 Tracking briefings June/July 2015 Rob Williamson – Skills and Employability Service

2 Agenda Why do we have to track young people? Tracking timeline Communicating with KCC Case studies Good practice Next steps

3 What do we have to do? The LA has a statutory duty to report monthly to the DfE on the activities of 16-20 year olds and SEND 16-25 year olds. It also has to carry out three annual surveys: Yr 11 Intended Destination, September Guarantee and Activity Survey. Local authorities should agree data sharing agreements with education providers and other public bodies that set out the information they will provide, when it will be provided and how they will ensure that data is passed securely. Section 72 of ESA 2008 places a duty on educational institutions to provide information to local authority services in order for them to deliver their duties

4 What are the benefits of tracking? All young people are given the best opportunity to succeed It provides clear information for schools and colleges on their success in helping young people take qualifications that offer them the best opportunity to continue in education, employment or training. Data is used in the KS4 and 5 Destination Measure and 2016 will be included in the 2016 Accountability Measure The 2016 Destination Measure will be what your 2012/13 cohort went on to do after leaving your school/college The LA can identify young people who need support. It provides data to plan resources and learning opportunities for young people at a local and national level
