Background Song of Solomon is also called Canticles The author is Solomon, who is described in 1 Kings 4:29-34 Jews thought this song was representative of God’s love for Israel Christians think it represents Christ’s love for his church (bride) It appears to be a celebration song of Solomon’s marriage to his favorite wife
