2.  There are only two ways to become a US citizen, either by law or by birth.  Becoming a US citizen takes a long time and is real hard, with too many steps, but not impossible.  If you are born in the USA you are automatically a US citizen. In the other hand if you are not born in the USA you need to apply for residency first.

3.  You need to apply for permanent residency and have a green card before you can apply for naturalization.  You need to be a permanent resident for five years, immediately preceding the date you filled your application for naturalization.  YOU NEED TO BE 18 YEARS OF AGE.

4.  During your application and after, continue living in the USA, to the time and date of your admission for citizenship.  Be a good person, for example having good moral character.  Have no outstanding deportation or removal order from the USA.

5.  You will be required to take a literacy test about your knowledge of the English language, and another test of your knowledge of US history and government.  Requirements for the test are:  The ability to read, write, speak and understand simple words and phrases in English.  have knowledge and understand US history and government.

6.  If you fail the tests, you will have a second opportunity within 90 days, and they will let you know if you pass within 120 days.  If you pass the tests the first time, you get you naturalization within a week or less. =)
