The role of the C.F.A Not only does the C.F.A put out fires they also have other jobs.

What do fire fighters do? “Learn special skills to operate fire equipment. Control bushfires, grass fires, chemical fires, house and building fires. Help cleanup chemical spills resulting from transport accidents. Rescue people trapped in vehicles in road accidents. Rescue people trapped in mines or trenches. Volunteers The C.F.A has help from lots of volunteers. Without volunteers the C.F.A would not be able to provide the service they do. Volunteers can be anyone in the community from a plumber to a business manager. Volunteers form a very important part of our community.

Why is the C.F.A important? The C.F.A plays an important role in our community. They make sure fires are put out as quickly as possible. They have rules in place that help protect our homes from fire dangers. From talking to people in the C.F.A we found that…

How would we survive a fire without the C.F.A? There are things that we can do to prevent fires including: cleaning up the leaves from our gutters Mowing grass Keeping chemical containers (e.g. petrol) away from the house. Bushfires would be very hard to put out if we didn’t have the C.F.A community service.

What we found interesting… The C.F.A is focused on the country areas in Victoria. There is a different title for the city fire authority – M.F.A (Metropolitan Fire Authority). We also found it interesting talking to different volunteers at the Farm & Road’s Expo. They told us….
