Arthropods Insects are known as Arthropods Why?
The body has 3 body parts: Head, Thorax, and Abdomen The head has 1 pair of antennae and 1 pair of eyes Many have wings 3 pairs of Legs

A Bugs life How do they Survive?
In winter they hide under rocks or safe places where they won’t freeze They mostly eat plants or small pieces of fruit or food they find on the floor They make their houses or hiding places in safe places. Some camouflage in trees or plants

Orders of Insects We will be learning 10 different orders of insects.

Lepidoptera For example butterflies and moths
They have auditory organs Long antennae Big Wings Metamorphosis: Transform from worm to moth.

Homoptera For example: whiteflies and cicadas Feed on plants
Pierce sucking mouthparts

Hemiptera Bugs Flat Wings Triangular Structure
Feed on plant juices and some on humans!

Isoptera Termites Feed on dead wood Form colonies Have a pale body

Diptera Flies Feed on nectar, sap and some on blood 1 pair of wings

Odonata Dragonflies Large eyes Long Abdomen
Some are found colorful like butterflies
