Some uses for gold included: Trading Money Even though Ghana was in possession of so much gold, only rulers could own gold nuggets were worth more than gold dust. The people of Ghana used gold dust as money.

Expansion of the Empire Ghana’s money was used to support their army, making it very powerful. This powerful army conquered many nearby lands. However, Ghana’s rulers were afraid that to much land would be to hard to control. So, the conquered rulers were still allowed to rule and acted as the “ Kings Governors”. *Under the rule of Tunka Manin, Ghana reached its height. The royal court reflected the wealth of the Ghana Empire.

Ghana Builds an Empire : Quiz We will ask each side 4 questions. Each team (side) will be given four questions. The first person to raise their hand for their particular side will get to answer the question. The left side of the room is team 1, and the right side is team 2. Each side gets 2 tries, from 2 different people. If both people get the question wrong, the other side has once chance to steal it. At the end, if the score is tied, we will give 1 question and the first team to raises their hand will get to answer it. If they miss the question, it automatically goes to the other side. *On Friday, the people who got their questions right will receive candy.
