The Works of the Flesh Idolatry: Image worship. The worship of false gods, idolatry. The formal sacrificial feasts held in honor of false gods. Of avarice, as a worship of Mammon I Jn.5:21, 1 Cor.10:14, Ex.20:3 The Worship of the Big 3…Money, Sex, Education Witchcraft: Sorcery. “ Pharmakeia” The use or the administering of drugs… poisoning… sorcery, magical arts. The “Black Magic.” A drug or poison; because in all spells and enchantments, whether true or false, drugs were employed. Acts 19:18-20, Deut.18:9-14

The Works of the Flesh Hatred: Enmity. Hostility; by implication a reason for opposition. Feuds. From the word meaning: (to hate); hateful (passively odious, or actively hostile). Barriers in 1 st Century, Jn.4:9, Gal.3:28. Need a Heart of Love Variance : strife, discord, a quarrel, i.e. (by impl.) wrangling:--contention, debate Not Honorable Disputing, Acts 19:8-10 Promote self, personality, opinion, slogans…Dethroning Jesus Christ

The Works of the Flesh Emulations : Jealousies. Excitement of mind, ardor, fervor of spirit… zeal, ardor in embracing, pursuing, defending anything. Unholy zeal, fervently adopting a bad cause, or supporting a good one by cruel means. The Pain and discomfort at the good that befalls another. 2 Cor.11:2 (Good Sense), Acts 5:17 Wrath : Passion (as if breathing hard): - fierceness, indignation, wrath. Passion, angry, heat, anger forthwith boiling up and soon subsiding again. “Get Mad,” Bad Temper, Fits of Rage, Loss Your Cool, So Mad Can’t See 2 Kinds: Fast Burning Kind, Slow Burning Kind Eph.4:26-27

The Works of the Flesh Strife: Rivalries, factions, quarrels, selfish ambition, properly intrigue, that is, (by implication) faction: - contention (-ious), strife. Electioneering or intriguing (underhanded plotting) for office. Jam.3:14-16 Seditions : Dissension, division, disunion, that is, (figuratively) dissension: - division, sedition. Rom.16:17, 1 Cor.3:3 (No Unity:1 Cor.1:10, Jn.17:20-21) Heresies: Parties, factions, properly a choice, that is, (spec.) a party or (abstr.) disunion. An opinion, especially a self-willed opinion, substituted for truth, leads to division. 2 Pet.2:1, 1 Cor.11:18-19
