Cumberland, Maryland is located in the western portion of the state. Cumberland was at one time the second largest city in Maryland (second to the port city of Baltimore— hence its nickname "The Queen City").

Western Maryland Steam Train During the 19th century, three major transportation routes began or ended in Cumberland - the National Road, the Baltimore & Ohio Railroad, and the Chesapeake & Ohio Canal. Cumberland prospered by helping transport raw materials, products, and even people between the East Coast and new states.

NEWS OF A GRANT TO BRING THE DEPARTMENT OF DEFENSE TO OUR LITTLE TOWN IS ISSUED AND WE BEGIN PLANNING. January 2014

THE GRANT WOULD PROVIDE FREE SERVICES TO THE TRI-STATE AREA FOR DENTAL, VISION, MEDICAL, PAIN MANAGEMENT AND VETERINARY.

Dr. Roserio was the lead Veterinarian and his first client was a little apprehensive about being in the tent.

Our spay/neuter clinic patients started to arrive on the second day.

The soldiers and the dogs were great together. Each of the veterinarian technicians would monitor vitals and take care of the dogs as they woke up. One German shepherd even found a forever home with one of the medical doctors.

Ready to go home! Each animals was identified with a tag that matched their owners. We gave the owners their tags when they dropped the animals off. This tag stayed with the dog until the owner picked them up in the evening.

THE TEAM SERVED 1,102 MEDICAL PATIENTS, 326 DENTAL SURGERIES AND191 DENTAL HYGIENE, 780 OPTICAL PATIENTS, AND 1,647 VETERINARY PATIENTS. IN TOTAL, THE 3RD MEDICAL COMMAND PROVIDED 593 PAIRS OF NEW GLASSES AND 15,929 SERVICES. Other Service Totals
