Location The Maremma represents a different and distinct side of Tuscany: Less fluctuating temperature swings due to its moderating coastal influence Different soil types – more iron in the soil
4
Location Morellino di Scansano is in the warm and dry “bassa” (lower) part of the Maremma, around the town of Scansano The particular clones of Sangiovese are different here than in the Chianti Classico zone – the dark brown tones and richness gave it the name “Morello” DOC status in 1978, DOCG status in 2007

Poggio Argentato Maremma IGT 60% Traminer and 40% Sauvignon Blanc This wine takes its name from the exposure of the vineyards, which face the Argentario promontory. Aromas of grapefruit, orange and rosewater, this white has an alluring aromatic profile. The palate shows more citrus with a hint of spice and ripe fig all balanced out with refreshing acidity. Pairs well with appetizers, salads, white meats and especially fresh seafood dishes.
13
Pelofino Maremma IGT 55% Sangiovese, 30% Syrah, 10% Cabernet Sauvignon and 5% Cabernet Franc In the Maremma, "pelofino" is a nickname for red heads—a tie-in to Elisabetta Geppetti’s gorgeous mane—and farmers with refined and elegant tastes. Aromas of black cherry, plum, pepper and hint of cassis. Rich on the palate yet refreshing and lively, the wine’s tannins are present yet fully integrated. The finish is smooth and reminiscent of forest floor. Pairs well with barbequed dishes, cured meats and dry-aged cheeses.
14
Saffredi Maremma IGT 49% Merlot, 47% Cabernet Sauvignon and 4% Syrah Saffredi takes its name and is dedicated to Elisabetta's father-in-law and mentor, "Fredi.” Bouquet of black plums, cassis, cedar spice, and violet this wine exudes pedigree. Warm and luscious, the fruit expands on the palate as the well- integrated tannins fill the mouth. Pair with elegant, layered pasta dishes, grilled game preparations or roasted prime rib.
15
Morellino di Scansano DOCG 85% Sangiovese, 10% Malvasia Nera and 5% Alicante The word Morellino is believed to take its name from the color of the Maremma horse known as "morello," (brown) that were once used to pull carriages in the Scansano area. Aromas of wild berries, leather and spice all topped off with a feminine floral note. On the palate the wine is incredibly smooth and velvety with noticeable but well-integrated tannins. Pair with pasta, red meat, game and aged cheeses.
16
Poggio Valente Morellino di Scansano Riserva DOCG 97% Sangiovese and 3% Merlot Notes of cherry, licorice, herbs and violets, this wine is such an elegant expression of the Scansano terroir. Full of ripe tannins from the coastal sun. This wine is a perfect match for any meat- based dish or well-marbled steak.
17
Solalto Maremma IGT 40% Traminer, 30% Sauvignon and 30% Semillon The wine name is a reference to a drawing done by one of Elisabetta's five children, her daughter Clara. Notes of dried flowers, apricots and peaches with a hint of waxy lemongrass. The minerality is flanked by a racy acidity that keeps the wine refreshing on the palate. Pair with salty cheeses or mousse filled tarts.
