Before you teach this lesson You will need the graphs on the last slide printed – 1 per student, for cycle one (LO1) The video file is downloaded and needs no internet connection Slides 6 and 7 are additional evaluations for cycle 1 – not needed but pose nice challenges as per the titles I have given them. For cycle 2 You will need enough laminates of each graph to cover the number of 3s you have (7-10?) – don’t spend too long on this, I’ve timed it on the slide Cycle two will need you to have printed off tables for them to complete (slide 13).

Describe how population has changed over time… Words and phrases to help Exponential growth (where number double, triple or quadruple or even square.) Between 1650 and 1850 population increase is linear and increasing steadily (by a similar amount each time). Between 1850 and 1950 the rate of increase grows and beyond 1950 population increase is exponential. Evaluate
