Background to SEP An independent, estuary wide initiative, initiated by local authorities and statutory agencies (1995) Severn Estuary Strategy (2001) provides a strategic management framework Integrated view of issues, policies and proposals for action Support for a wide range of estuary groups Many achievements over last 14 years

Role of Partnership Establish a set of ‘principles’ for the estuary that are delivered locally through individual strategies, policies and action plans Act as a coordinating body to ensure that agreed actions are delivered efficiently and effectively Promote and publicise the estuary at national and international level Add value and fill gaps providing extra capacity as necessary Ensure effective communications between organisations and individuals

Severn Estuary Forum An annual conference with an estuary wide, cross-sectoral remit The fourth Severn Estuary Forum Clevedon 2006 and 2007 / Penarth 2008 Constant themes of climate change, energy production, marine planning and shoreline management

Future Direction Partnership Review Input from Management Group Workshop with SEP Joint Advisory Committee Feedback from consultations Strategic Business Plan to identify where SEP needs to be in 5 years time (2010-2015) Consultation this autumn on draft plan Financial Business Plan
