2. Please make sure your first and last name are PRINTED clearly and always remain visible on the FRONT COVER, along with teacher’s name and period. (it may be good to write this same information inside the front and back covers as well)

3. Importance of jOURNAL: 1.Help with note-taking skills. 2.Writing increases retention of information! This will help you appreciate AND understand what you have learned… 3.Minimal amount of homework time but worth easy points! 4.Understanding helps you get homework in on time AND study for tests 5.Provide help for friends who were absent Outside of class reinforcement is Important! Need to study to reinforce learning-reflection increases that learning.

4. Each sheet ( two pages ) is for one day’s entry and comes in 3 parts: 1.Write the entry task question with your attempt to answer the question. 2. Notes on the debrief – even if you got the answer correct. 3. Three column reflection “proving” what you have learned (SCR)!

5. A day’s complete ET entry should look like this:

Notes taken during the debrief on the correct answer and anything else that may help you remember the answer. Each new day starts on the right hand side of a new page and should look like this. Draw a heavy line to separate the two sections. Make a box with date and date and write the ET# and the question (front page) Write Homework assignment

7. *On the next page (back side) is the SCR writing page. Draw three columns to separate each idea to make them clear and easy to read and study. *For tests, study the questions on the front page with the debrief notes ( correct answers ) and reflective writings on back page.

8. Question: How can I get good grades? SCR - Simplify, Connect, and Repeat (back page) Stay up to date on what’s going on in class because it will help me to learn the concepts at a higher level. One way I can do that is to write down my HW everyday, always fill out my ET journal completely and do my reflection on what I have learned that day. I can also check the website & grades online. S Draw diagrams to give you a visual of what you have learned-this is the CONNECT part! RC Planner or agenda, journaling, reflecting on thoughts Make sure you write out Question.

9. Keep your Journal up-to-date, in sequence and complete – REGARDLESS of whether you’re absent or late to class. *If absent, get information from website and/or a reliable student Journals WILL BE COLLECTED ANY TIME WITHOUT NOTICE Each day is worth up to 6 points Therefore, with 90 class days, your Journal is worth about 450 points ( about the same as 4 tests !). This should be an easy “A” for everyone.
