10 East High supporters who linked their ValuCards raised $767.38 last year!! We purchased 68 books requested by students and teachers with these funds

11 Dollar General Grant I Choose to Read - $2,000 Worked with Hazelwood/Hill, Gwinn 2 nd periods and Osborn English I Repeat classes to select one fiction and one nonfiction title for each student. Students who read 5 books by end of year could select 2 more books to be purchased. Difficult to measure progress due to time constraints implementing regular checkout, in-class reading time, and then reorganization of classes that split up original groups of students. Of the 54 students originally participating, 30 students read 5 or more books by the end of the school year, based on circulation records. Purchased 192 books total with these funds During 2 nd semester, used remainder of funds to purchase books requested by any student in the school. Lots of requests from McDermid’s English II & IV classes and Styles’s English II classes in particular.

12 Meritor Donation $1,000 Purchased 79 titles requested by students and teachers. WalMart Foundation Grant $1,000 from Sam’s #6572 Purchased 99 books requested by individual students. Saved $306.96 to purchase requests in August.
