Freidhelm Hillebrandt Freidhelm Hillebrandt was where texting all began. Hillebrandt was born in Warstein, Germany, in 1940. Hillebrandt was a keen amateur radio enthusiast and soon became an engineer and a technician. He helped settle on the 160 character limit for each text sent. He was also know as the “Father of the Text”.

Statistics The statistics of texting have gone up year after year. Texting while driving has caused many deaths and is the reason why texting while driving is banned in 35 states. Many say they know that texing while driving is dangerous but do it anyway. About 6,000 deaths have been caused each year because of texting while driving.

Statistics Continued 1 in 5 drivers have said they have styled their hair while driving 14% of people said they have put make-up on while driving 13% said they have surfed the internet while driving. For every 1 minute of distracted driving, 2 lives are devastated.
