Cardiac muscle The heart beats nonstop about 100,000 times each day. Most of your heart is made of cardiac muscle. The cardiac muscle never gets tired and never stops working until you die.

Signs of a heart attack These are signs to watch out for: feeling short of breath feeling nauseous have a cold sweat feel dizzy or light-headed Chest pain like an elephant sitting on your chest or stabbing pain Pain in arm, back, jaw or stomach

000 If you experience the warning signs of heart attack, get help fast. Call triple zero (000) and ask for an ambulance. If calling triple zero (000) does not work on your mobile phone, try 112. Why call triple zero (000)? Calling triple zero (000) gets you: an ambulance fast treatment as soon as you phone advice on what to do while waiting for the ambulance to arrive.

What harms cardiac muscles? When a lack of blood flows into the heart muscle it can’t longer get oxygen from the blood.

Healthy heart guidelines Eat healthy foods e.g. fruit and wheat Don’t eat lots of junk food only on special occasions Drink water when your thirsty Eat lots of vegetables
