The sample size is of 15600 households. UNECE Work Session on Gender statistics, 12-15 March 2012, Geneva, Switzerland

UNECE Work Session on Gender statistics, 12-15 March 2012, Geneva, Switzerland
7
Survey methodology Selection of diary days and coverage of the year According to HETUS: Diary days/dates should be allocated to households/individuals by a controlled random procedure. Selection of the weekdays and weekend-days must be made uniformly for assuring the representativeness of the data. The survey days/dates should be representative of, and cover a full 12-month period, i.e.365 consecutive days, preferably including holidays (like Christmas and New Year). UNECE Work Session on Gender statistics, 12-15 March 2012, Geneva, Switzerland
8
Survey methodology Selection of diary days and coverage of the year Moldova TUS is conducted during the period June 1 st, 2011 – May 31 st, 2012. Sample design ensures the representativeness of the data for weekdays and weekend-days. The survey fieldwork is spread over 12 consecutive months: a certain number of households are surveyed every day. Selected household and the selected respondent participate only one time during 12 months - each household/respondent has one survey day. (!) The designated date cannot be changed nor by the interviewer nor by the household. UNECE Work Session on Gender statistics, 12-15 March 2012, Geneva, Switzerland

UNECE Work Session on Gender statistics, 12-15 March 2012, Geneva, Switzerland
13
Why TUS didn’t follow the all HETUS recommendations? The limited financial and human resources. It wasn’t created a separated Unit. To not increase interviewers/supervisors burden: The fieldwork is carried out by the same personnel involved in two other continuous surveys, LFS and HBS: 150 interviewers; 51 controllers/supervisors; 5 persons in the Labour Market Statistics Division in the NBS Head Office UNECE Work Session on Gender statistics, 12-15 March 2012, Geneva, Switzerland
14
What are the main problems? Coding issues The coding of the diary is manually performed by the regional survey supervisors. Problems with monitoring supervisors work; Little accuracy in the coding; Necessity to come back to check daily diaries, to read the original description and to correct coding errors; It takes a lot of time for checking and data processing.
