1 Drama & Theatre Studies Theatre Text in Performance Unit 2b

2 What it involves Taking part in a performance from a complete and substantial play text Working collaboratively with the complete production company (ie your group) and director (your teacher) Rehearsing Performing to an audience

3 Assessment This section of Unit 2 is worth 50% of the marks for the Unit. There are 10 marks for the following elements: Vocal skills Movement skills Characterisation Communication (with the audience, the cast – being aware of audience response)

4 Conditions You work in groups of 3 up to 9 A group of three presents 15 minutes A group of 9 up to 60 minutes In between numbers present between 15 and 60 minutes – so a group of 6 might present 30 – 40 minutes

5 What else is required? You have to know the whole play You will be directed by your teachers You will also be expected to make creative contributions during the rehearsal process There is no written work for this section if you are a performer.

6 Play Choices We have carefully selected plays that will suit your skills It is not possible to mix up the groups at this stage Those marked with an * are available to watch on DVD

11 What you must do You must learn your words as quickly as possible The Exam is Week beginning 1st May 2012 Block B on 2nd, Block D on 3rd and Block C on 4th
