2. Project scope The project involves BASREC and branches of Baltic 21 such as Forestry, Agriculture, Spatial planning and Environment The Baltic 21 Secretariat has engaged a consultant to assist in preparation of the Baltic 21 projects

3. Proposed project Aims Overall aim: –To contribute to the 2010 EU 12% target –To foster regional and social development throughout the BSR Coordinated regional approach marked by National Strategies

Kick-off-meeting in Riga on the 19 th of March Four priority areas were discussed in separate workshops Of a total of 50 participants,approximately 20 participated in the Bioenergy workshop The participants represented most of the concerned sectors, ministries,agencies and R&D institutions as well as some other planned or ongoing projects within the INTERREG program.

12. Conclusions It seems important to find ways and means to avoid overlapping It is expected that the project proposal group will meet at 2-3 more occasions, the next one in connection with the meeting of the BASREC group
