5MISSION To promote public health in India by bringing out authoritative and officially accepted standards for quality of drugs including active pharmaceutical ingredients, excipients and dosage forms, used by health professionals, patients and consumers.

6VISION To promote the highest standards of drugs for use in humans and animals within practical limits of the technologies available for manufacturing and analysis.

7MANDATE To publish new edition and supplements of the Indian Pharmacopoeia. To accelerate the process of preparation, certification and distribution of IP Reference Substances. To establish working relations with other Pharmacopoeial Bodies

8Location The Office of the Commission is located at the Central Indian Pharmacopoeia Laboratory Campus, Sector-23, Rajnagar, Ghaziabad-201 002, India. It is an ultra modern premise having state-of-the art infrastructure and excellent facilities. www.ipc.gov.in

11 PRIORITY WORKS Timely publication of Indian Pharmacopoeia and its Addenda. Characterization and Certification of IP Reference Substance Synthesis and characterization of impurities (mainly toxic ones), degradations products etc.

12 International collaboration with other similarly placed institutions like British Pharmacopoeia Commission, European Pharmacopoeia Commission, Chinese Pharmacopoeia Commission and WHO etc. International recognition and acceptance of Indian Pharmacopoeia.

13 Develop as an institution of excellence for Analytical Development, Research and Pharmacopoeia related matters. Create a Library with state-of-the art facilities to cater the needs of South East Asia Region for dissemination of information.
