Darin Acosta, University of Florida 2 Feb. 2005 Commissioning Meeting 3 Status of Track-Finder n Second-generation Sector Processor prototype has been fully tested, along with a prototype CCB (TTC interface) and Muon Sorter n SP production launched with two pre-production samples u Board manufacture complete and inspected u Will be thoroughly tested once successfully assembled n Production & single board tests complete by May ’05 n Additional 2 months of testing in U.S. for full Track- Finder crate tests with Muon Sorter n Ready for tests at CERN with full production system by Aug. ’05 n But, the existing 3 prototypes are available for testing at CERN now u Prototype is nearly identical to final design
4
Darin Acosta, University of Florida 2 Feb. 2005 Commissioning Meeting 4 DT/CSC Integration Tests n Two tests have taken place in last 15 months n Tested data communication from each Track-Finder to the other through separate transition cards and cables n More sophisticated tests will need to take place in the future (Bat.904) to test our synchronization procedure, combined Track-Finding, and software integration

Darin Acosta, University of Florida 2 Feb. 2005 Commissioning Meeting 5 CSC TF Used as Trigger at Beam Tests ME1/1ME1/2 ME2/2ME3/2 RPC Full chain of trigger electronics from detector to TF tested
6
Darin Acosta, University of Florida 2 Feb. 2005 Commissioning Meeting 6 Scale of Electronic Test at Beam Tests PC0: ME2/2 PC1: ME1/1 + ME1/2 SP1 SP2 CCB MS Have tested up to 3 peripheral crates (~3 EMU disks) with up to 2 SP’s (2 60° sectors) (But with only 4 chambers…)
7
Darin Acosta, University of Florida 2 Feb. 2005 Commissioning Meeting 7 Track-Finder at CMS Magnet Test n CSC system will participate in the CMS magnet test with a 60 ° slice of one endcap u 36 chambers from 3 stations u trigger and readout cosmic ray hits n CSC TF will provide a cosmic trigger (or can be triggered) n Experience at beam tests very useful n Plan smaller slice tests even before magnet test (March) ME1 (18 CSC’s) ME2 (9 CSC’s) ME3 (9 CSCs)
8
Darin Acosta, University of Florida 2 Feb. 2005 Commissioning Meeting 8 Answers to remaining questions n Resources required in 904: u Rack space, power, network access, lab bench space for repairs and PC, locked storage for one crate of cards n Interaction with other Sub-Systems, until the end of 2005 u EMU (peripheral crates) u DT TF u GMT and GT u DAQ n Contact person u Acosta for now, but replaced very soon by CERN-based postdoc n Summary: u Essentially ready for system tests at 904 and SX5 now
