The Hopi and Kwakiutl Indians
Made by Naveen

Food that they ate The Hopi ate melons, beans, pumpkins, squash, fruit, and corn (which were their staple crop). The Kwakiutl ate salmon and many other fish. The Hopi were vegetarian but the Kwakiutl were non- vegetarian. The Hopi grew their food but the Kwakiutl hunted.

What they lived in The Hopi built houses that were made out of a mixture of rocks, sand, and water called adobe. The Kwakiutl built homes out of cedar trees. The houses that the Hopi made were called pueblos because when the Spanish arrived, their houses looked like small towns

What they wore Hopi Indians grew cotton and sewed them to make their dresses. The Kwakiutl shredded cedar bark to make skirts and waterproof capes and hats. The Hopi’s houses had up to three stories high but the Kwakiutl had totem poles to put out side their homes so other Indians knew more about them.

Their Location The Hopi lived in Arizona, New Mexico, and some parts of Utah and Colorado. The Kwakiutl lived from Alaska to northern California.
