2. Plot Summary Mila was in a plane crash, and the only one who
survived out of a mom and son.
Mila was raised by dolphins until she washed
up on shore and a local coast guard found her.
The local coast guard thought she was a mermaid.
She washed up on the shore.

3. They named Mila because it stands for miracle.
Dr. Beck and Sandy was Mila’s helper to help her read, write, and play on computer.
They named Mila because it stands for miracle.
They had found a note that her name is Olivia and that her mom was American, her father was Cuban.
Mila meets a girl name Shay.
They went to a house for them to take care of Mila and Shay.

4. Sandy shows Mila around, Mila sees lake and jumps in and gets sick.
Mila learns to play recorder.
Mila lets Shay borrow her recorder.
Shay gets angry and breaks recorder.
Shay goes away for good.
Mila meets Dr. Beck’s son Justin.

Mila told Dr. Beck that she misses Shay.
Mila stops eating because they want unlock the doors.

7. Mila stops eating her food.
They had to put a feeding tube on her.
Justin comes in there and undoes the feeding tube and smiles.
They go on a boat ride
Mila wants to go in the water Dr. Beck said no.
Justin said I will give you to the water.
Mila is with her dolphin family.

Karen Hesse lives in Brattleboro, Vermont with her family. In her book Out Of The Dust won the Newberry Medal and the Scott O’Dell Award.

9. Main Characters Mila, Shay, Justin, Dr.Beck, Sandy, and Dr. Troy
Main character was Mila she is the so called dolphin girl.
Dr.Beck helps Mila learn to read and talk.
Justin is Dr.Beck’s son.
Sandy also helps Mila learn.

11. Opinion
My opinion is that this book is awesome and if you like dolphins you should read this book, also if you just read a little it will make you read the whole book.

12. CONFLICT AND RESOLUTION
One conflict and resolution is the disagreement about if they should unlock the doors or lock Mila in her room by herself. Also, another conflict is if they should take her back to Cuba. They took her back to the sea and her dolphin family.
