3. Identifying an area for action research Can stem from a promising idea that you have heard or read about Realisation that your practice falls short of your aspirations Key questions What is happening now? How is this problematic/How is this an issue? What can I do about it?

Involves recognising what is presently happening and Emphasizing on trying something out For example: a) Everybody is talking about learner centred teaching? How can we practise it in our school? b) How can I be a leader and not just an Administrator?

6. What is a research problem? A research problem is the situation that causes the researcher to feel apprehensive, confused and ill at ease. The problem is the aspect the researcher worries about, thinks about, wants to find a solution for.
